Carla Faye Roller, 81 year old, Grove, Oklahoma resident passed away, Friday April 30, 2011 in Joplin Missouri, following an extended illness. Carla was born on February 17, 1930 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to Ernest and Nelly (White) McKinnis. Carla married Robert Roller on October 2, 1948 in Newkirk and together they made their first home in Tonkawa, later moving to Ponca City and then Grove. Carla worked for many years for Allied Supermarkets before assisting her husband in the family dry cleaning business. Carla was a avid line and square dancer, and golfer, who at the age of seventy-one won the Miami Country Club Women's Golf Championship. She also belonged to a number of clubs including the Women's Cherokee Golf Club and several area bridge clubs. Carla was known for her love of friends and family and her strong faith. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma. Carla was preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Roller, two brothers, Bob and Danny McKinnis, four sisters, Marie McKinnis Dickson, Clara McKinnis Courtney, Lorene McKinnis Briggs, and Irene McKinnis Patterson, Carla is survived by her husband Robert, of the home, two sons, Barry Roller and wife Becky of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Chris Roller and wife Karlyn, of Independence, Kansas, brother, Edward Lee McKinnis of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and Sister Virginia Cathey of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Carla is also survived by six grandchildren Brandon Roller of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Cody Roller of Golden City, Missouri, Jamie Roller of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Sharon Knowlton, of Webb City, Missouri, Christa Jones and husband Allan of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Gayla Freeman and husband Chase, of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, as well as numerous great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Carla will be held on Friday May 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma. Reverend James Wilder will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the Oklahoma Cancer Society.
