Carol Jean Newby of Grove, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital. Carol was born January 15, 1932 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Raymond Peter George and Madeline (Gosselin) Flindt. She graduated from Pawhuska High School and then attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where she received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She taught for one year at Big Cabin. On June 2, 1951, she married the love of her life Clarence Miller Newby in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She soon devoted her life to her husband and children. They lived in several states and many cities in Oklahoma including Vinita from 1977to 1987. They retired to Grove on October 31, 1994 moving from Wagoner. Survivors include her husband, Clarence M. Newby of the home in Grove; four children, H. Christine Sutherland of Conway, Arkansas, Darlene Prince of Boise, Idaho, Raymond Newby of Apex, North Carolina, and Rosemary Suffridge of Spencer, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at First Christian Church in Grove with Minister Wayne Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, northwest of Grove. Pallbearers will be Charles Beck, Don Fadely, Ron Gardner, Arley David, Charles Katzer, Win Kinnamon.
