Caroline T. Chandler, widow of Eldon Chandler and former resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Mount Vernon, New York (outside Manhattan), on January 13, 2012. Caroline Tumlin was born July 8, 1923 in Cave Spring, Georgia. She was the daughter of Albert Tumlin and Lucy (Young) Tumlin. She was raised in Cave Spring, where she was active in school life as a cheerleader, swimming diver and elected Homecoming Queen. She furthered her education by attending Agnes Scott and Peabody colleges. Caroline and Eldon R. Chandler were united in marriage and remained so for over 56 years. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Eldon became employed with Phillips Petroleum Company, moving to Bartlesville, and later served as Assistant Comptroller for the firm. When he retired, the couple enjoyed worldwide travel to expand their horizons. Eldon preceded her in death in February of 2000. In Bartlesville, Caroline was an active member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Hillcrest Country Club, and Service League. She was the epitome of a Southern lady - gracious, a family woman, extremely well-mannered, religious and a perfect hostess. She spent her life as a faithful wife, mother and friend. Caroline is survived by her children, Carol Cash and her husband, Jerry, of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Cynthia Chandler of New York City, New York; Steve Chandler and his wife, Kimberley, of Fort Worth, Texas; and four grandchildren, Christie Cash, Jeff Cash, Jay Cash, and Elliot Chandler.
