Cecil Edward Hewitt, 81, died Saturday February 12, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Cecil Edward Hewitt was born the son of Wilmot Newton and Dovie Lee (Royer) Hewitt on August 27, 1929 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Cecil was raised and educated in the Nowata area. One of his first jobs was delivering milk with the help of a horse and wagon. He was enlisted in the National Guard and served his country in Korea with the 45th Infantry. Cecil worked as an auto mechanic with the Otasco Store in Bartlesville for many years. He loved to work on TV's and operated Cecil's Radio and TV in his spare time. Cecil loved his animals including his cows and horses. His favorite horse, a Palomino Quarter Horse named Sugar competed in and won several races in Sallisaw before she was retired. Mr. Hewitt was preceded in death by his parents Wilmot and Dovie Lee (Royer) Hewitt, and brothers/sisters Harold Hewitt, Lloyd Hewitt, Alta Vidricksen, Merle Hewitt and Geraldine Glenn. Survivors of Mr. Hewitt include brothers/sisters, Elva Lunsford, Marie Johnson, Bill Hewitt, Goldie Hadley, Ernie Hewitt, as well as his children including James Edward Hewitt and wife Anita of Bixby; Floyd Wayne Hewitt and wife Marsha of Nowata; David Lee Hewitt and wife Sharyl of Nowata; and Joyce Ann DeJarnette of Tulsa; twelve grandchildren, Angela Sherman, Shaunna McKee, Jamie Ketcherside, Jennifer Hewitt, Brad Hewitt, Barry Hewitt, Brian Hewitt, Blane Hewitt, Nicki Anders Soma, Mandy Anders, Pam Anders Patteson, and Austin DeJarnette. Casket bearers for Mr. Hewitt will include his grandsons, Barry Hewitt, Brian Hewitt, Brad Hewitt, Austin DeJarnette, and Blane Hewitt. The Family will receive friends at the Benjamin Funeral Service, located at 114 West Cherokee Avenue Nowata, OK, on Tuesday February 15, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 For information, call (918) 273-2700.
