Charles L. Beck, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 6, in Tulsa, OK after a brief illness. Born to Orville Beck, Sr. and Lillie Ann Riley on April 12, 1926 in Canadian, OK, Charlie (as he was known to everyone) was the youngest of four sons. Charlie served as a Coxswain in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. Returning to Oklahoma after his service to our country, he met and married Ruby Calvert of Jay, OK. They married on November 16, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2004. During his lifetime, Charlie owned various businesses and held down a variety of jobs, including oil field rough neck, truck driver, rancher and police officer. He was never afraid to try a new adventure. Along the way, he collected many friends who will miss his wonderful sense of humor, his story telling, and his orneriness. He will be missed by his loved ones, including two daughters, Carol Round of Claremore, OK and Vicky Arnold of Grove; five grandchildren and their spouses, Casey and Tina Round of Salina, OK, Clint Round of Claremore, OK, Jimmy and Adrian Arnold of Grove, OK, Mandy and Eric Duffey of Boston, MA, Rusty and Tiffany Arnold of Tulsa, OK; five great-grand-children, Cheyenne and Brennan Round, Olivia Arnold and Trace and Borin Arnold. Charlie enjoyed life to the fullest and was especially fond of telling stories and sharing life's lessons about the good old days with his family and friends. Other family members who preceded him in death include his parents, and brothers O.M. Beck, Jr., Glenn Beck and Joe Beck. A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, September 10 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Jay, OK. A donation in Charles Beck's name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
