Charles Dirickson

Charles Clabe "Roundy" Dirickson, 93 well known Vinita Cowboy and Banker, went to the biggest roping ever, and his entry fees were paid, on Friday November 29, 2013 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. He was born into his Osage Heritage on June 14, 1920 northwest of Bartlesville in Osage County to Clabe and Rose (Carpenter) Dirickson. He graduated from the Oklahoma Military Academy in 1941. In January 1942 Roundy went to serve his country during World War II, with the 9th Division of the United States Air Corp as a Staff Sergeant, spending two and a half years in England, France and Germany. He ended his term with the Air Force after the end of World War II in December of 1945. Roundy was a good hand and rode good horses, he participated in many rodeos, and was a former calf roping winner of the Will Rogers Rodeo in Vinita. He married Patsy Denoya in June of 1945, she preceded him in death in April of 1996. Roundy was employed by the First National Bank of Vinita for over 30 years, where he was a Senior Vice President and on the Board of Directors. He was also very involved in his community, serving on the Lions Club Board, Vinita Country Club, Past President of the American Legion Rodeo Committee, Past Member of the Bluestem Cattleman's Association, Past President of the Red Feather Drive, Craig County Board of Health and many other community projects. Roundy had his private pilot's license and was the Will Rogers Parade Marshall in 2010. He enjoyed helping local ranchers gather cattle as well as go to Montana and gather cattle with his daughter, son in-law and grandchildren. Roundy was a member of the Cowboy Junction Church. Preceding him in death were his parents Clabe and Rose Dirickson, wife Patsy, son Charles "Chuck" Dirickson, Jr. in 2011, and brothers, John and Louis Dirickson. The family includes; his daughter Jan Marshall and husband Richard of Hinsdale, Montana, a daughter in-law, Donna Dirickson of Chelsea; special friend, Jean Bartgis and her family; sister in-law, Ruth Dirickson of Claremore; grandchildren, Charles Clabe "Trey" Dirickson, III and wife Merrilee, Kelley Winsett and husband Luke, Brett Marshall and wife Lacey, Bradley Marshall; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Lawson Dirickson, Quaid Marshall, Grey, Rawley and Nash Winsett; a very dear and trusted friends Lowell Hatcher and wife Linda, Jim Ratcliff and Tim Williams; nephews Wayne Dirickson, Duke Dirickson and wife Belinda. numerous other realtives and friends as well. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral for Roundy Dirickson will be held, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Craig County Community Building in Vinita, with Pastors Wade Markham and Lynn Bartgis officiating. Interment and Military Honors will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may give to the charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
