Charles Samuel Hendricks, age 68, of Ketchum, OK passed away Tuesday June 23, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Joplin, MO. He was born October 5, 1940 in Vian, OK the son of Eli Hendricks, Sr. and Peachie Smith Hendricks. The family moved to Claremore when he was four where he was raised and received his education graduating from Claremore High School then attended OSU Okmulgee where he majored in electronics. Charlie was a Planning Engineer for Air Force One while employed with Boeing in Wichita, Ks and Seattle, Washington. Charlie was a Network Center Technician with AT&T. Charles and Bettye DeWitt were first grade buddies and were united in marriage on September 1, 1962 in Claremore. He was an active member of Ancient Keetowah Nighthawk Society-Cherokees, Communication workers of America and the Grove Coffee Club. He loved the outdoors, fishing, treasure hunting, coaching his grandchildren teams in little league baseball, Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Bettye of the home, two devoted children, Samantha Hendricks of the home and Lucynda (Cindy) and husband Kent Griffith of Joplin, MO, seven brother and sisters, John Hendricks of Claremore, Wanna Lou Barton of Catoosa, OK, Elizabeth Padgett of Claremore, Marcus and his wife Connie Hendricks of Tahlequah, Emma Jean Wilson of Claremore, Vincent Hendricks of Claremore, Nancy and Ronnie Dobbs of Chelsea, OK, brother in law Bill Dewitt of Ketchum, two grand children, Kevin Kyle Griffith and Mandymo Griffith, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Peachie Hendricks and a brother Eli Hendricks, Jr. Funeral services will be Thursday June 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Bush officiating with interment to following in the Ketchum, Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home.
