CHARLES WILLIAM LISTEN GROVE - Charles William "Bill" Listen, 77, passed away June 26, 2007, at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Bill was born November 14, 1929 to Fred William and Olive Earnestine (Hill) Listen in Blackwell Oklahoma. He was raised in "WhizBang" Oklahoma, which later becoming Denoya., OK. In 1947, Bill graduated from high school in Shilder Oklahoma, then attended Oklahoma State University, and later received a Bachelors Degree at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. Bill married Geneva Mae (Huercamp) on November 9, 1967 in Joplin Missouri. Together they have seven children. Bill lived in Bartlesville and worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 38 years. At his retirement, Bill was the Manager of Safety and Fire Protection for Phillips 66 Company. Bill was also a member of the Safety and Fire Protection Committee of The American Petroleum Institute, and also served as chairman of the Petroleum section of the National Safety Council. Bill was a member of the Jaycees in Dewey Oklahoma and served as local President and National Director for Northeast Oklahoma. He was chosen as one of the five outstanding Local Jaycee Presidents in the State of Oklahoma, and also chosen as one of the ten Outstanding Jaycee National Directors in the United States. Bill retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in 1988, and moved to Grove, Oklahoma, in 1996. He loved fishing, sports and wildlife. Survivors include his wife Geneva of the home, Mark William Listen of Bartlesville, Janet Lynn Matetich and husband Rick of Austin, Texas; Laurie Ann Rigsby and husband David of Dallas, Texas; Thomas George Rogers and wife Tricia of Vacaville, California; Stephen L. Rogers of Dallas, Texas; Mary Kathryn Matthews and husband James of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Virginia Mae Christy and husband Mike of Wagoner, Oklahoma; one brother James Robert Listen and wife Janet Sue of Greeley, Colorado; and thirteen grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 7:00 p.m. untill 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Grove Oklahoma with Rev. Randy Hamill officiating. All guests attending the funeral service are invited to join the family for a luncheon in the West Wing of the church following the service.
