Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville, (918)336-5225 - Charles M. Messall, II, age 74 and Bartlesville, Oklahoma resident, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 in The Journey Home, Bartlesville. Charles Martin "Chuck or Charlie" Messall, II was born on March 5, 1944 in Bartlesville. He was the son of Col. Charles M. Messall and Sara Margaret Messall. As a child, he lived abroad in Turkey with his army dad and mother. He attended and graduated from Alleman High School in 1965 at Rock Island, Illinois. Chuck furthered his education after high school by attending and graduating from Oklahoma State University with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. After college, he joined the military where he served for five years. He was commissioned as a Captain by his father, Col. Charles M. Messall, I. After his time in the military, he went to work at Rockwell International where he received top security clearance and was involved with decoding satellite transmissions from terrorist groups on occasion. He worked with the CIA and the NSA. While in college, Chuck met his future wife, Betty, and they were married. They made their home in Laguna Beach, California until Betty's death. Betty was a recognized local artist that went by the name "CIARRA". She worked in oil and canvas and made high-end jewelry. Approximately nine years ago, Chuck moved to Bartlesville where he lived with his mother, Sara Margaret (Gibney) Messall and his brother, John Patrick Messall. He enjoyed bridge (he was a master bridge player), crosswords, TV and music. Chuck, his mother, Sara Margaret, and his brother, John, all agreed it was a wonderful, very fulfilling nine years when they lived together at the end of their lives. They felt very lucky and blessed and went everywhere together. RIP, Chuck. Charlie attended St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church, Bartlesville; and was a founding member of Tri Delt, Engineering Fraternity of OSU. Chuck is survived by his brother, John Patrick Messall of the family home; sister, Sara Margaret "Susie" Messall, II of Stillwater, Oklahoma; aunt, L. F. (Flo) Messall of Bartlesville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Martin Messall, I and Sara Margaret (Gibney) Messall, I; brother, James Arthur Messall, I; and wife, Betty. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Chuck's memory be sent to the Journey Home, 900 Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, Ok 74006
