Charlotte V. Carter, age 80, a longtime resident of Vinita Died Sunday May 4, 2008 at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living Center in Broken Arrow, OK. Charlotte was born March 26, 1928 in Catoosa, OK the daughter of Newton Foster and Erma Powers Foster. Charlotte was married to M. L. Avant. Later she and Homer Carter were united in marriage on October 23, 1973 in Tucumcari, New Mexico and made their home in Vinita. Mrs. Carter was reared in Catoosa where she graduated from High School and received her formal education in Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where she received a B.S. Degree. Charlotte was an educator for several years, then after her retirement she began working in home economics with the OSU extension center. She was of the Baptist faith and a rancher, and enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, gardening and cooking. Mrs. Carter leaves behind her husband Homer Carter of the home, two grand daughters, Cindy Brown and friend Teresa Tucker of Wagoner, OK, Debbie Magnon and husband Patrick of Broken Arrow, OK, two stepsons and their families, Allen Carter of Collinsville, OK and Scott Carter of Lawton, Ok, a Step Daughter Cheryl Ruhl and family of Portland OR, two great grandsons Aaron and Thomas Tucker and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday May 8, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Wilde officiating with interment to follow in the Dick Duck Cemetery in Catoosa. Serving as pallbearers will be: Allen Carter, Scott Carter, Ronnie Coppedge, Pat Wilde, Paul Wilde and Patrick Magnon. Services are under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
