Charlotte Louise (Nixon) Dye, 72, longtime resident of Nowata, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016. She was born January 18, 1943 in El Dorado, KS to Kenneth C. and Bettie L. Nixon. She spent most of her childhood in Fredonia, KS and Colorado. In 1961, she moved to Nowata and in 1962, she married Rex J. Dye. There she spent the rest of her life working and raising her family. She had many talents. She loved oil painting and pencil sketching. She won numerous awards at the Nowata County Free Fair and Grand Champion Blue ribbons for the Tulsa State Fair for her work. She also loved sewing and quilting of which two of her baby quilts won Grand Champion Blue Ribbons at the Tulsa State Fair as well. She loved to garden, and her home looked much like the Garden of Eden. Her roses entered at the Nowata and Tulsa Fairs also won blue ribbons. She was an excellent tailor and seamstress. She made several wedding dresses. People drove from as far as Kansas City, MO and Houston, TX to have dresses sewn by her. She also loved to go camping and took many trips to the Gulf of Mexico (probably her favorite place in the world; besides her beautiful backyard.) Charlotte was very talented and loved the trips, but her true love was her family. She loved hosting family get togethers and that was where she truly shined. She was loved by many family and friends and she will be truly missed. Charlotte is survived by her sisters, Jenny Smith of Colstrip, MT and Kathy Smith of Naches, WA; children, Janice Medina of Bartlesville and Vicky Boyd of Nowata; step children Bruce Dye of Nowata, Brian Dye of Nowata, and Rex J.
