Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK....918-253-3222......Chester Roy Compton, passed away at V.A. Medical Center in Muskogee, OK on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the age of 89. Chester was born on July 16, 1925 in Turon, KS, the son of the late Oscar Compton and Donnie (Alexander) Compton. Chester grew up in the Turon area where went to school. When Chester was a junior in high school he joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country aboard the USS Dyson during WWII from May 24, 1944 to May 13, 1946. After his service to his country, he worked on the farm and did dirt work in the Lewis/ Turon/ Kinsley, Kansas area. Chester married Hazel (Stevens) Sutton on November 14, 1972 in Woodward, OK. He retired and moved to Eucha, OK in 1999. Chester enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one son; one daughter; three grandchildren; two sisters; and six brothers. He is survived by his daughter Patsy Anderson and her husband Kenneth of Eucha, OK; two brothers Bobby Compton of Salina, KS and CJ Compton and his wife Judy of Alamo, TX; one sister Edna Harrison of Burrton, KS; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will greet friends at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, OK on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4PM to 6PM with a reading of the obituary at 5PM. Graveside services will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Kinsley, KS on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 2PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK.
