Chris Wayne Hughes, 55 year old longtime area resident, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 15, 2014 at the Claremore Indian Hospital. He was born on October 2, 1959 in Pryor to Earl Clarence Hughes and Bertha Della (Hoover) Hughes. Chris attended school at White Oak and Adair Schools. He married Katricia Lynne Langley on June 2, 1979 at the First Church of God in Vinita. Chris had his own business, Hughes Construction Company, a contractor and builder for over 33 years, until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Chris enjoyed his work, shooting clay pigeons, playing board games and cards with his family. The family includes: his wife Katricia of the home; children, Laura Stidham and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, Heather Hughes-Tapp of Vinita, Heath Hughes and wife Samantha of White Oak; sisters, Lily Wilson and husband Paul, Cathy Edwards and husband John all of Owasso; his mother, Della Hughes of Owasso; brothers, Donald John Rahlf of the Phillipines, Charles Lester Laws of San Antonio, Texas, Clarence Earl "Pete" Hughes of Vinita; grandchildren, John Seth Wayne Hughes, Christina Jolene Kalyn Wynn, Destiny Dawn Wynn, Brenton Alan Stidham, Halen McKenzie Jade Hughes, Cambrie Nakole Hughes, Brentley Rae Stidham; mother in-law Carrie Langley of Vinita, sister in-law, Barbara Langley of Bluejacket and brother in-law John Langley of Perryville, Missouri. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church near Adair, with Pastor Eddy Mathews officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Pleasant Hope Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita
