Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK....918-253-3222..... Clara "Jean" Buzzard, age 89, made her journey to Heaven on Saturday August 23, 2014 at 6:40 am at Craig County Hospital in Vinita, OK, after a long illness. Jean was born April 23, 1925 in Craig County, OK to Lawrence and Effie Stover Pope. She attended Lee Square School in Nowata, OK up until the eighth grade when she was asked to quit to go to work to help supplement her mother's income to support the family. On April 14, 1943 she married Paul Edward Buzzard in Bartlesville, OK. They had been married 67 years when her husband passed away in Oct 2010. Jean was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 32 years. She always felt like it was her calling to care for the sick and was known for being a very loving, hard working nurse. Jean and her husband lived in Washington State for approximately 15 years and moved back to Oklahoma with their family in 1966 to live on her husband' s father 's original Indian allotment of land up until the time of her death. Jean enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading, camping, teaching Sunday school but mostly spending time with her family and friends. Jean accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She always wanted everyone she loved to know the Lord so they too could experience the joy she felt and she could see them again in Heaven one day. She attended the Disney Assembly of God Church for 18 years and taught Sunday school for 14 of those years. She was a true prayer warrior diligently praying for the needs of others whoever or wherever they were. Survivors include her three daughters, Sue Boucke and husband, Dave of Placerville, CA; Jennita Brown of Grove, OK and Dennis Brown of Dallas, TX; Linda Bingham and husband ,Mack of Eucha, OK. Eight grandchildren: five grandsons, Sean and Jason Cambern, Justin and Derek Bingham and Brandon Brown. Four granddaughters, Thressa Tate Brown, Heather Cross, Sarah Buzzard and Sasha Wyatt and one special niece, Katherine Rex. Twenty one great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Sisters Peggy Gawley, Jenny Ford and Carol Kinkin, one brother, Tom Pope, and 14 other half sisters. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Buzzard, her two sons Paul Edward Buzzard Jr .and Michael Dale Buzzard, two brothers Jack Pope and Charles Keith and one sister, Betty Ingram. Services will be held at Disney Assembly of God in Disney, OK on Thursday Aug 28, 2014 at 2PM with burial following at Yellow Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK on Wed Aug 27, 2014 from 6PM to 8PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK.
