Clara Sue "Blondie" Pope Rader, 74, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at her home in Nowata. She was born February 20, 1942 in Alluwe, Oklahoma to LD and Alice Irene (Gawley) Pope. Blondie grew up in Alluwe and was a 1960 graduate of Alluwe High School. She was first married in 1959 to Dale Slease. They had four children together before divorcing in 1987. She then met her second husband, Charles Rader, and they were married on October 31, 1987 at Winganon, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in August of 2003. Blondie lived for many years in Oklahoma City where she drove a city bus for 21 years. She returned to the Nowata area in 2004. She was a fiercely independent woman, who often did for others, especially cooking. Blondie's other hobbies included sewing, quilting, designing and building anything she imagined, as well as drawing, gardening, and painting. Clara is survived by four children, Marie Cahill of Edmond, OK., James Slease of Edmond, OK., Jerry Slease and his wife Stacy of Oklahoma City, Jeffrey Slease and his wife Jean of Waxahachie, TX; three grandchildren, Guinith Cahill of Nowata, Brittany Norris and Bryan Norris both of Oklahoma City, OK and seven siblings. Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Alice; her husband, Charles Rader; her first husband and father of her children, Dale Slease, and seven siblings.
