Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Clara May Wagner, 105, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at her home in Nowata. She was born November 19, 1911 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to James Franklin and May (Futhey) Tippit. Her father was an oil field worker and owned Jim's Shoe Shop in Nowata. Her mother was a homemaker. There were five children in the family with only Clara and brother, Lloyd Tippit, age 92, surviving. She met Myron W. Wagner at a dance in Coffeyville, Kansas and they married on April 1, 1946, in Parsons, Kansas. Myron was a refinery worker. They had nineteen years together before his passing in 1965. Thy had one child, Jsue Wagner of Nowata. She has two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. As a child, her family came to Chelsea, by train for her father's job in the oil fields. She lived in and attended school in Nowata and graduated from Delaware High School. After marriage, she and her husband moved to Pasadena, Texas where he worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. She lived there until the early 1980s when she returned to Nowata to care for her mother. She lived in Nowata for about twenty years before moving to Indianapolis to be near her daughter, living there for about ten years. On Labor Day 2013, as promised, she and her daughter moved back to her "little yellow house on the corner" in Nowata. She and her husband travelled to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, California, and most of the southwest US and Mexico. Later she went to New York, the eastern seaboard, Canada, and the deep south. Clara affiliates with both the Methodist and Christian Churches. She volunteered at Houston Children's Hospital and Comforting Hands Hospice in Bartlesville. She was in Garden Club, Twin Bridges and various travel groups. Her hobbies were ballroom dancing, oil painting, and reading. In high school, she loved doing hair for people. She worked in various shops in both Oklahoma and Texas, working as a beautician for over fifty years. Her pets were dogs named Pup, Christian, Logo, and Trixie. Her words of Wisdom: "Get up every morning." Clara is survived by her daughter, Jsue Wagner of Nowata; a brother, Lloyd Tippit of Sun City, California; two grandchildren, James Alan Schindler and wife Holly of Newberry, Florida and Eric Matthew Schindler and wife Jen of Indianapolis, Indiana and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and May Tippet; her husband Myron Wesley Wagner; one brother, Jim Tippet; two sisters, Dorothy West and Hazel Williams.
