Cleo Jones

Cleo D. Jones, 71, of Disney, Oklahoma died at 12:22 a.m., Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma. Cleo was born September 2, 1937 in Lake Providence, Louisiana to Henry Harrison and Rena Marie (Matthews) DeWitt. On March 27, 1976, Cleo married Lewis W. Jones at the First Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. While in Shawnee, Cleo had worked as a hostess and cashier with B. Brittan Restaurant and as a secretary for Ran's Subaru. Cleo greatly enjoyed her time serving as the City Coordinator of the "Keep Shawnee Beautiful" program. Cleo and Lewis retired to the Disney area in 1995. Cleo enjoyed being busy. Cleo was an active member of the Dogwood Chapel in Disney, Oklahoma. She made crafts, including wooden toys, flower arrangements, and hand-made birthday and anniversary cards. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Russell DeWitt in 1989; one stepson, Jeffery Wayne Leatherman in 1970; one stepdaughter, Peggy Jo Jones in 2002; and one grandson, James Alexander Bull on April 10, 2005. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Lewis W. Jones of the home in Disney; one sister, Katherine Jones and her husband Russell of Sondheimer, LA; one brother, Henry Harrison DeWitt, Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters, Janet Teresa Work and her husband Rocky Smith, and Aliene Cook Leigh and her husband John Jr. both of Disney; two stepsons, Mark Jones and his wife Rhonda of Harrah, OK, and John Leatherman of Callisburg, TX; two stepdaughters, Kena Purkey and her husband Larry of Kingsville, TX, and Sherry Jones of Disney; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to Noon on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay with Pastor Lennie Martin officiating. Burial will be on Monday, December 1, 2008 for immediate family only at Duffield Cemetery in Jay. Pallbearers will be Francis Faulkner, Gene Kirby, Terry Brazeal, Coby Jeffries, Richard Plante, and Rodney Little. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Dempster, and Wayne Little.
