Collis F. Snider, 90 year old former resident of Vinita, passed away, Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, following a respiratory illness. Collis was born May 17, 1917 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Roy Clinton and Della (Grobe) Snider. Collis and his wife Inez (Greiner) have been married for 68 years. Following high school, Collis spent eight years working for the Craig County Democrat and the Daily Star newspapers. In 1942 after a short stint at the Pryor Ammunition (Powder) Plant, he then went to work for the Vinita Daily Journal where he continued to work for 37 years. In 1979 he started to work for the Luginbuel Funeral home of Vinita, until retirement in 1990. The family includes his wife Inez of the home, one son, Sam Snider and wife June of Kansas City, Missouri, two daughters, Sue Bacon and husband Jim of Fredricksburg, Texas, and Diane Welch and husband Bruce of Bixby. There are nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, with another one due in June. Collis was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Evelyn Averill and two brothers, Troy and Sam Snider. He will lie in state at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2007. Pallbearers will be; Mike Bacon, Pat Snider, Paul Bacon, Ben Bacon, Matt Welch, and Casey Collis Snider. Honorary bearers will be Kathy Biggerstaff, Alicia Lewis, Kim Bacon, Leah Snider, and Amy Reed. The rosary will be held Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bixby Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home before the Rosary. Mass will be held at St. Clements of Rome Catholic Church in Bixby on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m., with Father Josh Litwack officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, 9101 South Harvard in Tulsa. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita in cooperation with Bixby Funeral Home of Bixby, OK.
