Cynthia (Axe) Foote, age 65, former resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Cindy, the daughter of Nelson and Mary Axe was born on October 18, 1947, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she lived until she left to attend Oklahoma State University after her high school graduation in 1967. Cindy received her bachelor of science in education from OSU, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority. Following graduation, Cindy worked in the Oklahoma City school system where she taught history and social studies at U.S. Grant High School for more than 20 years. She earned a master's degree at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. Cindy was married to Norman G. Foote of Oklahoma City until 1995. Following her retirement in 1999 for reasons of health, Cindy moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she first lived in Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living and then in the Forest Hills Nursing Home. Cindy lived with juvenile diabetes from the age of five until her death. Although troubled by serious health issues, she managed to live a full and vibrant life. She loved playing bridge, going out with her friends and reading (especially mystery books!). Her sisters, Kathryn Axe of Kansas City and Mary Dellva and her husband, Fred, of Tulsa will miss Cindy very much. She was always their little sister and their lives will seem empty without her. Cindy is also survived by her niece, Mary Anne Dellva of Indianapolis, her nephew, Peter Dellva, his wife, Denise, and their sons, Alex, Henry and Will of Chicago, Illinois. Her entire family is very sorry to lose their sister, their aunt and their sister-in-law. Those who would like to honor her memory could best do so through a contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF.org.
