Funeral services for Dan Koscelny are 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at ST. Catherine Catholic Church in Nowata. Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a rosary at 6:00 P.M., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Benjamin Funeral Service. Dan Koscelny, 79, of Delaware passed away at his home Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was born in Nowata, OK to Joseph and Madeliene (Spurgeon) Koscelny. He attended Delaware and Nowata School Systems. Dan worked in the oil fields around Nowata before going to work for Boeing and McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Companies as a jig builder. On September 22, 1954 he married the love of his life, Loretta Hills in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He retired from Boeing in 1995. Dan enjoyed working on cars, hunting, and fishing. He was so patient with the kids when fishing. He would straighten out their lines, get them back in the water to have them get them all tangled up again. Dan also enjoyed woodworking. He crafted furniture and things for his family and loved working with the wood and creating these treasures. Dan was a real family man. His wife, children, grandchildren, and other family were so dear to his heart. He loved each and every one of them. His children said it all when they said "He was a good father". Dan will be missed by all who knew him. Dan is survived by his wife Loretta of the home; four children, Laurie Hicks and husband Vernon Jr. of Delaware, Danny Koscelny and wife Anna Belle of Nowata, Julie Parsons and husband David of Delaware, Mark Koscelny and wife Betty of Delaware; two brothers, John Koscelny and Kenny Koscelny both of Delaware; very special friends, Roger and Millie Mosley of Adair and Bill Swalley of Nowata, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeliene Koscely and a brother, Tom Koscelny.
