Daniel Cox, Grove resident, formerly of Lakin, Kansas died early Friday morning May 6, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Joplin at the age of 71 years. Dan was born on January 26, 1940 in Cardin, Oklahoma to his parents, Joseph Edward and Jean Denslow (Currey) Cox. He attended Picher schools and later worked as a rendering operator for Tyson Foods. Dan loved to fish and hunt. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the OU Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved working with his hands, he was very mechanical. Dan is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Wayne Cox and Gary Dean Cox; and sisters, Martha Jean Coppedge and Judith Ann Kessler. He leaves many loving memories with his family, son, Dave Cox and wife, Stanna; daughters, Angela Brewer, Nancy Colosimo and husband Chris, Tanya Luna, Jennifer Garcia, and Mary Stevens; brother, Donald Cox and wife Doris; sisters, JoWilla Harper and husband Bill, Delores Owens, Geraldine Hope and husband Hershel, Linda Coerber; half brother Jack Cox and wife Linda; half sister Joann Rains; grandchildren, Lindsay, Meghan, Jacob, Heath, Nicole, Alex, Garett, Chase, Heather, Tomasiena, Tiffany, Michael, Brandt, Caden, Zander, Jace, Jara, JorDan, Jevin, Jentri, Holly, Chandon, Skycha, Shelby, and Bryce; as well as many other loving relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Monday May 9, 2011 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. A Graveside funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday May 10, 2011 at the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma. Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
