David Ross Ketcher, 78 year-old Jay resident, died late Thursday evening, January 11, 2007 at the Monroe Manor Nursing Center. He was born July 23, 1928 in Miami, Oklahoma to Dave and Goldie Juanita (Hicks) Ketcher. David served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. David married Gloria Fae Millard on December 26, 1956 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He worked for the U. S. Postal Service in Tulsa for 35 years, as postal supervisor, postal manager, and station manager. David and Gloria have lived the past 30 years in the Jay area, where he was a member of the Faith Mission Church. David was an activist, for animal rights, rescue, and rehabilitation, our environment and pollution control. He supported the NRA and collected guns and he also enjoyed cooking at many hog fry's. The family includes; his wife Gloria of the home, his children, Virginia Lee Duckworth and husband Boyd of Hazelwood, MO, David Ross Ketcher and wife Mary of Texas, Gary Ketcher of Hominy, Bonnie Fae Ketcher-Knapp of Jay, Krissi Coble and husband Charlie of Jay; four brothers, Jerry Ketcher and his wife Betty of Miami, Kent Ketcher and wife Yvonne of Miami, Larry Ketcher of Columbus, KS, Sam Ketcher and wife Lisa of Baxter Springs, KS; one sister Sharon Housh and husband Tom of Miami; six grandchildren, Nick Duckworth, Ashley Duckworth, Brittney Gull, Jessica Fae Knapp, Kallisse Johnson, Wade Johnson and Chade Coble; and one great-grandchild Tyler Gull, there are also many other relatives surviving. Friends may give to the animal charity of their choice. The memorial service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Mission Church in Jay with Pastor Chester Crittenden and Mr. Mike Sperry officiating.
