David Vernon

David L. Vernon obit David L. Vernon age 68 of Claremore, died Sunday March 14, 2010, in the Claremore Regional Hospital, The son of Lenard and Josie Templeton Vernon, he was born on June 29, 1941 in Denver, Colorado. As a child, the Vernon family moved from Mentone, Alabama to California where they picked peaches, potatoes, and fruit. David later worked as a heavy equipment operator until an accident left him disabled in 1966. In later years, he helped his brothers with the Vernon Salvage Yard in Claremore, OK. Surviving are A daughter Debora S. Steffens in Claremore Three brothers Lenard Donold Vernon, Billy Joe Vernon, and William Danniel Vernon all in Pryor, OK, 2 sisters Leona Fay Sanders and Kathleen Whitlock, both in Claremore, Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Mechelle Dianne Vernon-Starr, two brothers Douglas Keith, and David Larry Vernon, 3 sisters: Shirley May Jay, Anna Bell Fletcher, and Lenore Tripp. The funeral will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday March 18, 2010 in the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, OK. The interment will be in the Duffield Cemetery in Jay, OK. The service is under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK.
