Dean L Murrow, "Jiggs" of Grove, Oklahoma, died on April 3, 2010 at his home on Grand Lake. He was surrounded by his family following a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Dean was born on January 21, 1923 to Lottie and Harry Murrow. Dean attended Phillips University for a year prior to serving as a Naval officer in World War II. He completed his service at the end of the war as a Second Lieutenant. Upon his return, he attended the University of Oklahoma, earning his Bachelor's Degree of Science in Business in 1948. Dean married Helen Denner on November 7th of 1948 and moved to Wichita, Kansas. There they raised five children. He began his successful career as an oil and gas lease broker, retiring at the age of 62. Dean inspired many lives through his generous spirit and infinite devotion. He fervently gave to others, serving in the Foster Children Program, delivering meals and maintaining lawns for the elderly, making weekly visits to the nursing home to share devotions, participating in the YES program for juveniles and leading his Sunday school group, the Seekers. He touched the lives of a remarkable number of people including friends and strangers. Dean's family and friends were so important to him, but nothing was more important to him than his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He yearned for the day he would be standing at the throne of his God. His life reflected the love of Jesus. He never met a stranger and gave openly and fully to anyone in need. Dean's son, Doug, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, his three daughters, Barb Hurt (Rod) of Wichita, KS; Nancy Ingram (Tom) of Tulsa, OK; and Julie Patterson (Scott) of Santa Clarita, CA and his son, Richard Murrow (Gail) of Chapel Hill, NC. He has eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
