Dennis Edward Bates, 77 year old Disney resident, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at his home. He was born January 3, 1937 in Merced, California to John Fredrick Bates and Luna Mae Tucker. Dennis served his country in the United States Army from September 1956 to September 1959. He lived in the Oklahoma City area before moving to Grand Lake 29 years ago. Dennis married W. F. "Mandy" (Murphy) in 1981. Dennis served as the Postmaster for the Langley US Post office for 13 years, retiring 6 years ago. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle around the area, and had started riding in his 70's. He liked watching the Cardinals play baseball, working in his flower garden, and was very passionate about his work in Alcoholics Anonymous. The family includes his wife Mandy of the home, children, Clay McGlasson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Domni Newton of Phoenix, Courtney Goss of Disney; a sister, Olene Wade of California, a brother, Buster Mills of Oklahoma City; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Bond McGlasson. The life celebration service will be held Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Langley City Park.
