Dessie May Hase, 86 year old, long-time Grove resident died Monday morning, June 4, 2007 at her home near Grove. Dessie was born July 27, 1920 in Afton, Oklahoma to George Washington Palmer and Sarah Elizabeth (Barnes) Palmer. She grew up in Afton and for several years lived in Tulsa before moving to Grove with her husband John Otto Hase. Dessie worked for the Tulsa YMCA and was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army. She was a hardworking, loving and caring woman that enjoyed growing flowers, taking care of her animals and spending time with her children. She was very proud of her grandchildren always being supportive, especially of the ones that served in the military. Dessie loved to watch college football and was a devoted OU fan. She was a member of the Zena Baptist Church and made many friends at the senior citizen center. She was know to her family and loved by everyone as "Granny". Dessie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Essie Nay Bowlin and Marie Korb, one brother, Clarence Weathley, husband, John Otto Hase, two children, Otto Morie and Carroll Sue, two grandchildren, Theris J.O. and Tamara Charlene, three great-grandchildren, Andru, Kayan and William. She is survived by five daughters; Elizabeth Easter and her husband Jim of Grove, Oklahoma, Roberta Morris and her friend Howard of Mannford, Oklahoma, Leona Lewis and her husband David of Oakhurst, Oklahoma, Linda Weiesnbach and her husband Charles Timothy of Tempe, Arizona, Peggy Easter and her husband Theron of Grove, Oklahoma; one son, John Daniel Hase and wife Debbie of Jennings, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her "other" children: Emma Owens, Erma Phillips, Donna Howell, Pat Somerfeld, Vicki Blackwood and Betty Roberts, all of rural Jay, Oklahoma. She had 22 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren.
