Luginbuel's South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley, Oklahoma (918) 782 - 4400 �-�- Dick "Gene" Lay, 70 year old longtime Langley resident passed away January 1, 2016 at his home in Langley. Dick was born in Vinita on February 21, 1945 to his parents Fred L. and Anna Marie (Gilpin) Lay. He grew up in Strang, Oklahoma and graduated class of 1963 from Strang High School. Dick was drafted into the United States Army in September of 1965 and on November 18, 1965 he married Mary Ables at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Pryor before he was stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. After being honorably discharged from the Army Dick and Mary settled in Langley where he retired with 24 years of service with the City of Langley and 20 years with the Langley Fire Department and was the Fire Chief for nine years. In his off time he enjoyed fishing and hunting, restoring old cars, and building trikes. Preceded in death by his father and one infant sister, Opal Mae Lay; Dick is survived by his mother, Anna Lay of Pryor; his wife Mary Lay of the home; two daughters, Regina Lynn (Lay) Still and husband Clyde of Big Cabin and Ella Marie (Lay) McGlasson and husband Frank of Strang; four grandchildren, Kaleb Still and wife Alyssa of North Carolina; Megan Still of Big Cabin, Molly and Heath Kerr both of Strang; two great grandchildren, Karter and Leon; as well as other family members and friends. The Family will Greet Friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Sunday - January 3, 2016 at Luginbuel's South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2016 at Luginbuel's South Grand Lake Funeral Home Chapel in Langley. Burial will follow at Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Miami Veterans Detail. Arrangements are by Luginbuel's South Grand Lake Funeral Home, Langley, Oklahoma.
