Dixie Woodard

Dixie Marie (Davis) Woodard, a resident of Vinita OK died Friday June 12, 2009 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa. She was born February 16, 1936 in Estella, OK to Leonard Lee and Stella (Highsmith) Davis. She attended school at Blue Bell and White Oak before moving to California and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. She married Robert Boyd Bogle, Jr. in Quartsite, AZ in 1956. He preceded her in death. She married John Dick Woodard in Vinita, OK on September 8, 1984. Dixie volunteered countless hours of research and donated volumes of genealogy information to the Vinita Public Library. She was a foster parent for twenty years and provided a home for over fifty children. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and attended many stomp dances and powwows with Dick. She is survived by her husband Dick, sister Bonnie and daughter Jannet. Step-children Terry Abercrombie, Connie Shotpouch, Mike Woodard and Laqueta Prayter. Three grandchildren Bo Garrett, Misty Robertson and Jake Williams, Five great grandchildren 14 step-grandchildren and 20 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, Vivian, Lavena, Jean, Wayne, Doyle, and Connie and a daughter Mary Ann (Bogle) Whiteman. Graveside services for Dixie will be Monday June 15, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita with Rev. George Vaughn officiating under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
