Dolly Digney

September 22, 1921 — August 14, 2011

Dolly Evelyn McBrien was born September 22, 1921 north of Welsh, in Craig County, Oklahoma. She attended high school in Chetopa, Kansas and also Labette County Community High School, in Altamont, Kansas where she graduated in May of 1938. After high school, she was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company for 35 years. Dolly retired from Phillips as an Executive Secretary in 1979. On November 1, 1941, Dolly married William Albert "Bill" Digney in the St. John Catholic Church in Bartlesville. They made their first home in Bartlesville. Bill served in the military during WWII. Before and after military service, he was employed with Cities Service until 1950, when Dolly and Bill purchased a cattle ranch in the Matoaka area south of Bartlesville and Bill became a full time cowboy. At the Round Top ranch they spent many happy years. After retirement, they became winter Texans, then Texans, living in Donna, near McAllen, before returning to Bartlesville. Bill preceded Dolly in death in April of 2011, and she had continued her residence in Bartlesville since that time. Dolly was a member of the Jane Phillips Sorority. She enjoyed dancing and she and Bill were members of the Thirty Couples Club. She was a wonderful seamstress and made much of her own wardrobe. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. Dolly was "Nanu" to her grandsons and she delighted in "catering" to them every chance she got. Dolly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; sisters, Goldie Evalea (McBrien) Ballou, Ella Mae (McBrien) Thompson, Lela Esther (McBrien) Buckley, and Loretta Violet (McBrien) Malone; brothers, George Estes McBrien; Benjamin Thomas McBrien, and Ronald Dean McBrien. She is survived by her son, Stephen Digney and his wife, Pamela, of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandsons, Kevin Digney and his wife, Amanda, of Oklahoma City, and Bradley Digney and his fiancé, Siri Ogg, of Memphis, Tennessee; sisters, Thelma Lucille (McBrien) Passmore, Georgia Viola (McBrien) Glazebrook, and Beverly Ann (McBrien) Odell; and brother, Tommy Gene McBrien.
