Bartlesville, OK -- Donald Richard "Duck" Allen, 63, died early Friday, May 18, 2007 at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don was born July 6, 1943 at Coffeyville, Kansas to Jess Allen and Hazel (Franklin) Allen. He grew up in Coffeyville and was a graduate of Field Kindley High School. When Don was small, his grandfather nicknamed him "Duck" because "he was short, fat and waddled when he walked". After high school, he went to work in Coffeyville and later moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1969. In 1988, Don moved back to Kansas and then back to Bartlesville about three years ago. He had worked as a service manager at auto dealerships before retiring. Don was a member of Bartlesville Warriors for Christ. He liked cars, loved horses and was proud of his Cherokee heritage. Survivors are two sons, Bobby Allen and his wife, Kelli of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Kelly Allen of Dewey, Oklahoma; one daughter, Jessica Allen of Missouri; four grand- children, Brandon and Blake Allen, both of Norman, Oklahoma and Cameron Allen of Vinita and Kelsey Allen of Dewey, Oklahoma and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents; by one brother and one sister. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Welch Cemetery, Welch, Oklahoma with Larry Miller officiating. Service and interment are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, Oklahoma. The family suggests that friends who wish donate to the American Cancer Society.
