Betty Richardson, age 85, a resident of Highland Village, Texas, formally of Bartlesville, died Friday April 4, 2008 in Highland Village, Texas Betty Ruth Richardson was born on August 19, 1922, in Augusta, Kansas. Growing up she loved music and singing and attended Emporia State College in Kansas on a voice scholarship. On a blind date in June of 1942 she met the love of her life, Donald Richardson, and they were married on October 15, 1942. Betty and Donald moved to Bartlesville in 1948. Betty was a devoted stay-at-home mother for many years and spent many hours volunteering at her children's schools. When her children were older she worked first as the operating room secretary at Jane Phillips Hospital and then as the receptionist for opthalmologist Dr. Floyd. She retired in 1985 and enjoyed traveling with Don and being a doting grandmother. Betty was a cheerful, determined, and giving person who always put her family first. In her last years as she fought the ravages of Alzheimer's, her greatest comfort was always her Donald who took such wonderful care of her before passing away on February 4 of this year. Betty will forever be in the hearts of her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Elaine Richardson; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gary Grubb; and her grandchildren, Megan Grubb and Michael Grubb. Her parents, Jesse and Lottie Jones, two sisters, and one brother preceded her in death. Graveside funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Richardson will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Gary L. Hagan of the First Christian Church of Bartlesville, Ok. will preside over the services. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Donald Ditlow Richardson, age 86, died Monday February 4, 2008 at Rambling Oaks Assisted Living Center in Highland Village, Texas. He was born January 2, 1922 in Liberal, Kansas. At a young age Donald moved with his family to Wichita where he attended school, graduating Wichita East High School in 1941. He entered the army in June 1942 and married the love of his life, Betty Ruth Jones, on October 15, 1942. During WW11, he was a Corporal in the Army Air Force and was the NCO in charge of the transmitter station on Ascension Island, maintaining and operating airway communication for airplanes crossing the Atlantic Ocean. After the war he earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. In 1948 he and Betty moved to Bartlesville, OK where he began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company. He retired in 1985 as the branch manager of electrical design. Don worked for many years as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He had many hobbies including fishing, gardening, antique clock repair, and his treasured 1929 Model A Ford. He was a man of strong moral values and friend to all who knew him. He is dearly missed and will always be loved by his wife Betty, son and daughter in law Tom and Elaine Richardson, daughter and son in law Donna and Gary Grubb, grandchildren, Megan and Michael Grubb. His parents Eli and Cora Richardson, eight brothers and one sister, preceded him in death.
