Donald Ditlow Richardson, age 86, died Monday February 4, 2008 at Rambling Oaks Assisted Living Center in Highland Village, Texas. He was born January 2, 1922 in Liberal, Kansas. At a young age Donald moved with his family to Wichita where he attended school, graduating Wichita East High School in 1941. He entered the army in June 1942 and married the love of his life, Betty Ruth Jones, on October 15, 1942. During WW11, he was a Corporal in the Army Air Force and was the NCO in charge of the transmitter station on Ascension Island, maintaining and operating airway communication for airplanes crossing the Atlantic Ocean. After the war he earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. In 1948 he and Betty moved to Bartlesville, OK where he began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company. He retired in 1985 as the branch manager of electrical design. Don worked for many years as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He had many hobbies including fishing, gardening, antique clock repair, and his treasured 1929 Model A Ford. He was a man of strong moral values and friend to all who knew him. He is dearly missed and will always be loved by his wife Betty, son and daughter in law Tom and Elaine Richardson, daughter and son in law Donna and Gary Grubb, grandchildren, Megan and Michael Grubb. His parents Eli and Cora Richardson, eight brothers and one sister, preceded him in death. Services for Mr. Richardson will be planed for a later date.
