Donald Ray Marquis, 77 year old life time Vinita area resident, passed away on Monday August 28, 2017 at the St. Francis Hospital in Vinita. He was born on October 28, 1939 in Vinita to Ray and Leora Mae (Chamberlain) Marquis. Donald was a 1958 graduate of Vinita High School. He and Carol Jean Bennington were married on May 4, 1959 in Miami. Donald worked 40 years at Eastern State Hospital as a Nurse's Aide, he also worked for a time at the Juvenile Detention Center. Donald was also a rancher, raising cattle on his farm. He loved to fish, rodeos, going coyote hunting with his boys, but most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a member of Cowboy Junction Church. The family includes: his wife Carol Jean of the home; children, Tony Marquis and wife Deanna, Jerry Marquis and wife Jennifer, Debbie Cramer, all of Vinita; sister, Fern Rush of Broken Arrow, brother, Howard Leroy Marquis of Vinita; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded by his parents, and sisters, Janice Faye Payne and Neva Drake. The family will receive friend from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Timpson Chapel Cemetery, northwest of Vinita, with Pastor Wade Markham officiating.
