Funeral services for Donald Frances Miller, 84, Grove, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Grove on Thursday, March 8, 2012, with Rev. Randall Hamill officiating. Burial will follow at the Olympus North Cemetery in Grove. Born June 21, 1927, in Bloomsburg, PA, to Truman Roy and Marie (Utt) Miller, he passed away at a Grove hospital, on Sunday, March 4, 2012. Don and his family moved from Bloomsburg, PA, in 1935, to a farm in Rohrsburg, PA, where he worked on the family dairy farm until 1952. Donald graduated Benton High School in 1945. Don married Betty Irene Kelsey on May 18, 1949, in Derrs, PA. After leaving the family farm in 1953, Don went to work for Columbia County as an artificial inseminator of cattle. In 1963, he was appointed as an animal health technician working for nine counties in the central Pennsylvania area while making their home in Bedford. Don was transferred to Chickasha, OK in 1972, where he worked for the USDA and carried the title of Federal Livestock Inspector until his retirement in 1989. He and Betty moved to Grove in 2002. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed wood working, traveling in his RV, gardening, landscaping, reading, and photography. Don loved serving others in his church and community. He served as a scout leader and church youth leader as a young man. In Chickasha, he was involved with the Festival of Lights and elections board. More recently in Grove, he volunteered at the local food bank, on mission trips, and Meals on Wheels. He was an active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Chickasha and recently the First United Methodist Church of Grove. He was preceded in death by both his parents; and his brother - George Miller. He is survived by his wife - Betty, Grove; sons - Ken Miller and wife, Pat, Carlisle, PA, and Alan Miller and wife, Rochelle, Broken Arrow; one daughter - Judy Kimmel and husband, Ken, Grove; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM on Wednesday evening, March 7, 2012 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK.
