Donald Delayne Weaver 71, of Wann passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at his residence. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Benjamin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Arlis Henegar officiating. A private family committal will immediately follow the services in a private family cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, November 30, 2009 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the Weaver family at www.honoringmemories.com Donald was born in Elk City, Kansas on June 27, 1938 to Everett and Mary Charlotte (Lewis) Weaver. He grew up in the Elk City and Longton, Kansas area where he graduated high school in 1956. Donald served in the United States Navy Air Corps from January 1957 until 1960; in that time he was stationed in Newfoundland; he flew in the AWAC radar planes. Donald maintained the radars and logged over 3800 flying hours. He loved to garden and always maintained an impressive garden. Donald was larger than life, he was always there when you needed him, you never had to ask him twice; he was very dependable and he did everything to his best ability. On May 3, 1974 he married Marilyn Frye in Bartlesville. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed westerns. Donald and Marilyn lived in Coffeyville where they had their 2 daughters later moving to the Wann area. He worked for Nowata County as a road grader for the next 14 years before his retirement. Donald's greatest joy in life was his family and garden and later his grandchildren, he treasured every minute he was able to spend with them. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Marilyn Weaver of the home, 2 daughters Christie and her husband Jeff Mayfield of Wann, and Jamie and her husband Michael Rogers of Lenapah, 3 grandchildren Preston Rogers, Madison Rogers, and Kailyn Rogers all of Lenapah, 5 siblings Margie Schultze of Independence, KS, LauraMae Chavez of Mosey Lake, WA, Richard Weaver of Longton, KS, Ray Weaver of Independence, KS, and Glennis Weaver of Moline, KS, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Mary Weaver and 1 sister Ruth Ann Cargyle. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service.
