Dora Collier

May 10, 1910 — July 1, 2008

Dora Fae Underdown Collier, 98, a resident of Dewey, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center. Our mother, Dora Fae Underdown Collier was born on May 10, 1910 to Calvin Anderson Underdown and Mary Elizabeth Daniels in Harrison, Arkansas. She was the youngest of six daughters, followed by a younger brother. Dora married Curtis Lyman Collier on December 24, 1932. During the early years of their marriage, Curtis and Dora lived in Wann, Oklahoma, Woolaroc, and the Dewey area. Once Curtis became an employee of the Phillips Petroleum Company, they were transferred to Phillips, Texas, and to Odessa, Texas. Upon Curtis' retirement from Phillips, they returned to Dewey, where Dora owned and operated the Collier Nursing Home for eight years. Following Curtis' death in 1956, Dora continued to operate the nursing home until her retirement in the early 1960's. Dora was a very strong and thrifty person with an entrepreneurial personality. For a number of years, she was very involved with and became quite knowledgeable of antiques. Dora was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church for more than 60 years. Dora is preceded in death by two children, Mary Lou Collier Clute and Donald Weber Calvin Collier. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Patricia Ann Collier Turner, and second daughter Wanda Sue Collier Wooldridge, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday July 7, 2008 at 10:00 am in the White Rose Cemetery Mausoleum. Brother Perry Flerchinger will officiate.
