Doris Marian Lockard, age 92, joined our Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014. She died peacefully in her sleep at Green Country Village in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, surrounded by many who loved her. Doris was born to Frank and Anna Sigvaldson in Minneota, Minnesota on September 8, 1921. She spent most of her childhood in Longmont, Colorado and after graduating from the University of Colorado, taught school and served as an airline hostess for Continental Airlines from 1942-1945. In June 1945, Doris married Vernon Lockard and in 1951, they moved to Bartlesville, to raise their three sons. Doris was actively involved in the Bartlesville community, St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Service League. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed her needlepoint group. Her gift to all was her beautiful spirit that blessed others with kindness, love and grace until the Lord called her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Frank Sigvaldson; brother, Bill Sigvaldson; and son, Thomas Lockard. She is survived by Vern, her loving husband of 69 years; her sons, John Lockard and his wife, Kathryn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Rob Lockard of Ardmore; her sisters, Alice Ruth Wierson of El Paso, Texas, and Betty Garcia of Springfield, Virginia. She so loved her five grandchildren, Sara Franden and her husband, Robert, of Tulsa, Drew Lockard and his wife, Allison, of Dallas, Texas, Scott Lockard and his wife, Devon, of Oklahoma City, Nick Lockard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Shelby and her husband, Riley Saunders of Norman. Doris has six great-grandchildren that knew and loved their "Grandma Doe".
