Dorotha Ann Stanbery Barton was born in Granby, MO. on September 4, 1915 where she lived on a farm with her parents Ollie Ann & William Stanbery. At the age of 8 she moved to Quapaw, OK. with her family where she attended the Quapaw school system until she graduated from high school as Valedictorian of her class. She maintained an average all the way through school. She graduated from Miami Jr. College in 1932 & she worked as a Case Aide Lady during the depression, mostly distributing commodities. She married Tommy Roberts in 1935. They lived in Leadville, Co. where he worked in the mines until Dec. 7, 1941 when he left to serve at Pearl Harbor for 18 months. During that time Dortoha was an instructor at Spartan School of Aeronautics. After he came back they moved to Denver, CO. where she was employed as a Department head for Montgomery Wards. She & Tommy divorced in 1951. Dorotha married Hubert A. Barton on September 3, 1953 in Denver, CO. They then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. where Sgt. Barton was stationed. He served in the USAF Missile Program. Dorotha went to work for RCA, which was also part of the missile program. They were in the USAF for 31 years. During that time they were stationed in Germany and all over the United States. After 31 years Sgt. Barton retired as a Chief Master Sgt. In charge of all the Atlas missiles from Shreveport, LA. to the Canadian border. They came to Grand Lake in 1973 and built their home in the Rainbow Bend Addition. Nine years later Sgt. Barton died of cancer. Dorotha moved to Grove proper where she attended First Baptist Church of Grove. She loved to play bridge, teaching others and belonging to the bridge club. She also loved to play the piano even after becoming legally blind Dortoha moved to the Betty Ann Nursing Home in the year 2000 and lived there until she passed away June 22, 2007 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents Ollie Ann and William of Denver, CO.; her sister Mildred Stanbery Housh of Denver, CO.; her brother Vernon Stanbery of Grove, OK.; and her husband Hubert A. Barton of Grove, OK. She is survived by her brother, Cecil Stanbery and his wife Janell Stanbery of Grove, OK.; two daughters: Berta Stouffer of Hendersonville, NC & Netta Sutton of Forsyth, MO. Ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces: Debra Stanbery Mercer, Brenda Welsh, Sandra Ann Housh; 1 nephew, Bill Housh; and 11 great-nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by all.
