Dorothy Bass

Dorothy Elizabeth Bass, 72 year old Vinita resident, died Sunday, March 30, 2014. Dorothy was born in Joplin, MO on September 2, 1941 to Ed Franklin and Sarah Mae (Hood) Waters. On May 10, 1958 she was united in marriage to Bobby Bass and together they raised four children. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors and camping and fishing. She was very loving, caring, and a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her children: Sam Bass and wife Teresa, Patty Cusick, Terry Bass and Coweesta Green, and Kenny Bass all of Vinita, 7 grandchildren: Dink Bass and wife Alicia, Kim Pifer and husband Josh all of Vinita, Brandon Cusick and wife Lauren of Broken Arrow, Chris Cusick and wife Jennifer of Overland Park, KS, Jacquie Bass of Joplin, T.J. Bass of Broken Arrow, and Bobby Bass of Foyil, 8 great grandchildren: Denton Effinger, Brian, Sami, and Pierson Pifer, Braden, Cannon, and Carson Cusick, and Jaylen McGill, siblings: Bill Waters of Texas, Frank Waters of California, Ed Waters of Vinita, Ann McBride of Joplin, and James Waters of Vinita, as well as numerous nieces and nephews including special niece Lorna Wilson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bobby Bass of 42 years, and grandson Christopher Lucas. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday April 3,2014 with Pastor Leon Landrum officiating. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
