William R. Eddy passed away on June 21, 2008 at the age of 93. Dorothy I. Eddy passed away at the age of 90 on June 18th of 2008 at 2:25 AM. William was born in Dubuque, Iowa on March 29th of 1915 and Dorothy was born in Milford, Michigan on August 30th of 1917. They would have been married 74 years on the 20th of July in 2008. They had been inseparable for over 74 years and they are not going to be separated now Bills parents move to Detroit, Michigan when he was 10 years old. After graduating from Cass Tech High School during the great depression, he worked at various jobs in factories and businesses in the area. Bill met Dorothy McCurdy in the Milford, Michigan area and they were soon happily married. He was soon employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in their research division and the company soon moved them to the headquarters in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After 15 years in Bartlesville they transferred to Idaho Falls, Idaho where Bill worked as the Senior Design Engineer at the NRTS where Phillips had a contract. They were in Idaho Falls for 8 years and when Phillips finished their contract they moved back to Bartlesville. A few years later they transferred to the Seal Right Division of Phillips in Kansas City, Missouri. Bill finally retired in KC after 43 years with Phillips. He obtained 33 patents during his career with Phillips. In 1997 they moved to Nampa, Idaho to be near their children and families and that is where they have resided until now. They were always very active in their Churches. In KC they belonged to the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church for over 30 years. They served as Sunday School teachers, Deacons, Elders, Scout Masters, and they served on many committees and boards in Milford, Bartlesville, Idaho Falls, Kansas City, and Nampa. They enjoyed camping, fishing, antique cars, spending time with cherished friends, and much more together. Bill enjoyed Flying, and playing his tenor banjo with the Kansas City Banjo Band for 30 years and then the Idaho fiddlers for another 10 years after moving to Nampa. The KC Banjo Band played over 180 engagements a year. Dorothy Loved doing art work, reading, writing poetry, playing the organ and accordion, and teaching children in Sunday School. Bill and Dorothy had 3 children, Robert B. Eddy, Richard E. Eddy, and Carol A. (Eddy) Funderburg. William R Eddy was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Dolly Eddy, a sister Eleanor Pritchard, a brother Brett Eddy, and a son Richard Eddy. He was survived by his son Bob of Nampa, his daughter Carol of Boise, and 12 Grand Children, 33 Great Grand Children, and 8 Great Great Grand Children. Dorothy I. Eddy was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Minnie McCurdy, two sisters Agnes and Ariellea, and a son Richard Eddy. She was survived by a brother Edwin McCurdy, her son Bob of Nampa, her daughter Carol of Boise, and 12 Grand Children, 33 Great Grand Children, and 8 Great Great Grand Children. We want to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Michael Dee and his staff and to all of the Mercy Hospice staff. Their wonderful assistance and guidance as we went through the process of caring for Bill and Dorothy, (Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa), was way beyond the norm and well beyond the normal call of duty. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We would request that if you would care to make any donations you would consider Mercy Hospice in Nampa, Idaho and the Hope House. The Eddy's always had a special place in their hearts for Donna and the wonderful work she is doing with children through the Hope House. They will both be greatly missed but we are blessed to know that they are with our Lord Jesus whom they served all of their lives. Their funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 28, 2008 at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave South, Nampa, ID. 83651 The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the chapel. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 1, 2008 at the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 3, 2008 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK under direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
