Surrounded by her family, Dorothy Jean (Lawrence) Moore, Daughter of Albert J. (Pat) Lawrence and Iva G. (Collins) Lawrence departed this life on April 19, 2008, at the age of 81. Dorothy was born March 8, 1927 in Webber Falls, Oklahoma. She attended Webber Falls Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1945. She attended Connors Junior College in Warner and graduated from Northeastern State University in 1949 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Dorothy began her teaching career in a rural school in Muskogee County. After one year, in the fall of 1949, she accepted employment as a Fourth Grade teacher in the Nowata City Schools. She retired from Nowata Schools in 1987 after 30 years as a fourth and fifth grade teacher. Dorothy enjoyed many outside interest including traveling, and attending the symphony with her friends, as well as being a volunteer for the hospital auxiliary. She was a member of the NEA, OEA, Nowata County Education Association, Nowata County Retired Teachers Association, Kappa Kppa Iota, La-Ke-Kon and the Nowata United First Methodist Church. Dorothy was married to Glenn Moore on June 5, 1954, in Muskogee Oklahoma. They have two daughters, Ann, of Vinita, and Gena, of Nowata. Other survivors include a sister, Mary Jo, of Chattanooga, Tn., several nieces, and nephews, and cousins, 2 aunts, Daisy Dunaway of Porum, and Scottie Casey, of Warner, as well as a host of friends.
