Strang, OK - Dorothy M. Woods, 83, died early Monday, November 05, 2007 at Integris Mayes County Regional Medical Center, Pryor, Oklahoma. Dorothy was born December 10, 1923 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Howard Carpenter and Jess (Nichols) Carpenter. She grew up in Old Alluwe, Oklahoma, and had been a resident of Ketchum, Oklahoma since 1967. She married Doyle Woods on September 27, 1947. Mr. Woods preceded his wife in death on December 1, 1970. Dorothy had worked for Cities Service Corp. at their retreat on Grand Lake and worked for Frosty & Edna's of Langley, Oklahoma for more than 15 years. She was a member of the Adair Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star of Adair. Survivors are four children, Jan Whitfield and her husband, Terry of Vinita, Oklahoma, Colleen Springer and her husband, Roger of Strang, Oklahoma, Gary Wood (correct spelling) and Terry Woods, both of Ketchum; one brother, Rod Carpenter of Hominy, Oklahoma; two sisters, Verda Metz of Wichita, Kansas and Sue Vorris of San Diego, California; eight grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Buck and Joe Bob Carpenter and by two children, Samuel Maddux and Doyle Wayne Wood. Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2007 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata, Oklahoma under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday - Thursday until 9 p.m.
