Dot Louraine Epperson, 86 year-old Nowata resident, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. Dot L. Epperson was born March 9, 1921 in Chandler, Oklahoma to Jack A. Pierce and Lizzie Josephine Stevens-Pierce. She attended schools in the Nowata area for several years and later went on to work as the manager for McClellan's five and dime. On December 22, 1944 she married Harold Eugene Epperson in Newport News, Virginia. Mrs. Epperson loved camping and fishing. She also enjoyed entertaining friends and family at the farm, especially during the famous weiner roasts. Christmas was also a very special holiday for Mrs. Epperson. She loved to play Santa Clause when all of her nieces and nephews were around. Mrs. Epperson was a great teacher of life's lessons. She had a great wisdom, knowledge, and love that made her such a special person. Mrs. Epperson is survived by two brothers, John William Pierce of Nowata, and Bill J. Pierce of Nowata; by one sister, Beulah Grace Collier of Nowata; by numerous nieces and nephews; by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and by her caregiver Brenda Smith from Country Style Health Care in Ketchum. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Otis Pierce and Kellis Pierce; and by a sister, Lela Ann Collier.
