Duane A. Heitzmann Duane Heitzmann, age 77, of Grove, OK died Tuesday June 1, 2010, at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, OK. The son of Ben F Heitzmann and Beada Heupel Heitzmann, he was born on July 7 1932 in Valley City, North Dakota. Duane married June Towry on August 31, 1957 in Fayetteville, TN. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a B.S. Degree in Industrial Engineering. Duane held a Real Estate License in California and worked for Rocketdyne as an Aerospace Engineer and Project Manager in California. He played the trombone in College and High School Dixieland Bands and the Huntsville Civic Orchestra. Duane played High School Basketball and was active in Boy Scouts. He lived in California from 1960 to 1996 when he retired to Grove for lake living. In California, he was active in the First Baptist Church of Woodland Hills, CA. serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Moderator, and Chairman of the Board of Overseers. In Grove, he was active in politics serving as Treasurer for Delaware County Republican Party, member of the First Baptist Church, serving as Chairman of the counting committee. He was known in Grove as "Water Bug" Duane spent a lifetime serving the Lord and Community. His family and fishing were first in his heart with country and patriotism a close second. Surviving is his wife of 52 years June Heitzmann of the home in Grove, OK A daughter Carole (Heitzmann) Zimmelman and husband Steve, their children Alisa (Zimmelman) Luvisi and husband Todd, David Zimmelman, and Ashley Zimmelman. A son Paul David Heitzmann A brother Paul Heitzmann and wife Suzan A sister Janice (Heitzmann) Maier and husband Gary Nephew David Heitzmann and wife Pat A niece Cheryl (Heitzmann) Schalks and husband Ben and a great nephew B. J. Schalks The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the First Baptist Church in Grove, OK. The interment will be in the Olympus North Cemetery. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK. There will be a visitation for family and friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
