Earnest Beu

March 1, 1928 — July 5, 2012

Earnest Eugene "Gene" Beu was born in Delaware, Oklahoma, March 1, 1928, to Earnest Edward and Stella Mae Brown Beu. He was a 1946 graduate of Delaware High School and on June 22, 1950 he married the love of his life, Betty Campbell. They made their home in the Delaware and Childers areas where they raised their family. Gene was a hard working man that loved his family and made sure they were taken care of. He loved working and taking care of things around the farm. Gene liked to tinker on things and figuring out how to make them work. A complex task was always made easier by the way he could figure out the most efficient way to complete the task. Gene loved raising a garden to provide good food for his family and to share. He was quite well known for scraping iron and the grandchildren all remember the joking and having a good time. When he had time Gene liked to fish. Being outdoors and with his family was his most treasured memories. He was a member of the Delaware Baptist Church. Gene will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Mr. Beu in death are his parents, Earnest and Stella Beu; siblings, Lela May, Alma Robinson, Mata Hicks, Francis Hicks, Frank Beu, and Wendell Beu; a son, Edwin Beu; and a daughter, Sandy Kay Tharp. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Betty Beu, a son, Danny Beu, and wife Linnie, of Childers; a daughter, Sherry Jones, and husband Bud, of Cherryvale, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, Lindy Beu, Melissia Wilmoth and husband Bill, Sherry Beu, A.J.
