Edgar Alvin "Blondy" Buxton went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2009 in Vinita at his daughter's home surrounded by his loved ones. Blondy lived life with grace, dignity, and with loving concern for his family. He was born June 27, 1924 in Vinita to William E. and Pearl (Rentle) Buxton. Blondy graduated from Bluejacket High School, then went into the United States Navy, serving from 1943 to 1946 as a Coxswain. He had battle stars from the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Guam, Leyte, Luzon, Iwo Jima and a Kamikaze attack. Blondy lived and worked in Portland, Oregon before moving back to this area. He was a lifetime member of the Miami V. F. W., loved writing poetry, bowl, play horse shoes, cards, dominoes and washers. He attended the Assembly of God Church. Blondy was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary "Skipper" Buxton, a brother, Junior Buxton, an infant brother, great-grandchildren, Christopher Sims, and Michael Buxton and his longtime companion, Lee Hoppe. The surviving family includes: his daughter, Debbie Kees and husband Randy of Vinita, grandchildren, Eddie and Angela Harris of Okemah, Brandi and Brad Meyer, Jase Krauser all of Vinita, great-grandchildren, Hayden Harris , Breanna Meyer, Brody Meyer, La Quita Buxton, Dee Dee Sims, brother, Bill Buxton of Tulsa and sister, Jean Hatley of Skiatook, the mother of his children Jean Buxton, special friends Denny and Penny Mercer, friend and companion, Inez Friend, numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. Casket bearers will be, Bud Hatley, Jack Bates, Billy Buxton, Bobby Buxton, Kevin Delong, and Bud Enyart. The funeral service will be held, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bluejacket Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Ole Hatley and Rev. Don Williams officiating.
