Edith Faye Hale 1936 - 2011 Edith Faye (Morgan) Hale died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Grand Lake Village in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born June 18, 1936 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Clint and Opal (Hoodenpyle) Morgan of Big Cabin, Oklahoma. Edith attended schools in Council Grove and Vinita, graduating from Vinita High School in 1954. She then worked for Munsingwear in Vinita until her marriage. Edith won a bet by getting a date with Howard Hale who she then married on June 28, 1958. Howard and Edith moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado; while there, two sons were born. They had an opportunity to farm so the family moved to Felt, Oklahoma where they farmed for several years. Edith and the family then moved to Vinita, Oklahoma where they farmed and raised cattle. Edith was a consummate farm wife and enjoyed being outside helping with the farm work. Her favorite activity was baling hay. After the death of her husband, Edith worked for the Baptist Children's Homes of Oklahoma and for the Oklahoma Department of Social Services as a substitute house parent in both Owasso and Norman. She also did home health care in the Vinita and Grand Lake areas. She retired to Vinita after this time of working. Edith enjoyed her time of retirement in Vinita, participating with a local music group, visiting with friends, and eating out. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vinita. She was especially proud of her sons and their families. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Clint and Opal (Hoodenpyle) Morgan and her husband, Howard Hale. She is survived by her sons Jay (Beverly) Hale of Burlington, Kansas and Lee (Shelly) Hale of Vinita; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Sheppard of Monroe, Ohio, Brent (Ania) Hale of Independence, Missouri, Erin Hale of Jackson, Tennessee, Sarah Hale of Vinita, Matthew Hale of Monroe, Ohio, and Laura (Joel) Ball of Kansas City, Kansas; one great-granddaughter Hannah Hale of Independence, Missouri; and two sisters Patsy Watson of Branson, Missouri and Hazel (Gene) Williams of Rapid City, South Dakota. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Vinita, with Pastor Jay Hale officiating, assisted by Pastor Brent Hale.
