Edward Leon DuBois, 89 year old, Grove, Oklahoma resident, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011. Leon was born on July 17, 1922 in Bernice, Oklahoma to Lewis and Eva (Williams) DuBois. He graduated from Grove High School in 1939 and attended college at Northeastern State A&M and then at Oklahoma State. Leon served in The United States Army Air Force during World War II, in the European theatre for over two years. Leon married Imogene Rice on July 23, 1945 in Pittsburg, Kansas. Together they attended First Baptist Church, Grove, where he served as a deacon for over forty years. Leon also helped with the construction of Lake Center Baptist Church. Leon had many hobbies, including fishing, waterskiing, horse riding, camping, checkers and puzzles, but above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leon was preceded in death by a brother, Don Wells. Leon is survived by his wife Imogene, of the home, daughters, JoAnna Boylan, and husband Jack, of Valdosta, Georgia, Rita Santamaria, and husband Henry, of Houston, Texas, Patti Simpson, and husband Berry of Tulsa, Oklahoma, son, David DuBois and wife Michele, of Vinita Oklahoma, sisters Tess DuBois Lee DuBois of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Nadine Steward of Springfield, Virginia, sisters in law, Marge Landrum, Ruby Price and Janice Shero, and brother in law, Curtis Rice. Leon is also survived by ten grandchildren, Jeff Burgelin and wife Alex, Michael Burgelin and wife Jennifer, Chris Burgelin and wife Astrid, Kelly Shearer and husband Rob, Kimberly Dydalewicz and husband Kevin, Anglia Isaac and husband Matt, Jeremy Bates and wife Rachael, Andrew DuBois and wife Nickki, Ashley DuBois and AnnMarie DuBois. Twelve grandchildren, Lauren and Brooke Burgelin, Drew and Abby Burgelin, Beck and Bella Burgelin, Shelby Jackson, Justin Shearer, Kaden and Knox Dydalewicz, and Brianna Bates, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services for Leon will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma interment will follow at Buzzard Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. On Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
