Mr. Edward Allen, 89 years old, retired Chemical Engineer died Sunday October 19, 2008 at Jane Phillips Medical Center. Mr. Evans was born in Lima, Ohio June 3, l9l9 to Edward and Addie (Zimmerman) Evans. He attended local schools and graduated from high school in Alton, Illinois. He attended the University of Missouri and graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Edward served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Elizabeth Amelia Schrimpf and moved to Bartlesville in l952. Elizabeth preceded him in death. He married Marian Engstrand in l974, making their home in Copan. Mr. Evans retired from the Gas and Gas Liquids Dept. of Phillips Petroleum Company, in l985 after 35 years. Mrs. Evans died in l996. Ed's family always found his childhood stories fascinating. Ed's father, Edward Sr. owned and operated a traveling carnival train. Ed was born in a Pullman-porter car. He grew up with a pet spider monkey and was surrounded by interesting side-show personalities. While in retirement, Ed enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and he was a fabulous cook. He spent many hours joking and visiting with good friends at the local taverns. He is survived by his girlfriend, Anita Kimmel of Ramona, OK, three children, two sons and their wives, Bruce and Lou Ann Evans of Bartlesville, OK and Doug and Cindy Evans of Wichita Falls, TX, one daughter Debbie Phelan of Bartlesville, OK, step son and wife, Lee and Sandra Engstrand of Franklin, TN, step daughter, Lisa Engstrand of Pawhuska, OK, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of friends and his loving dogs, Jackee and Duffee. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lucian Evans. Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Evans will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008 in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
