Edward Leroy Hawn, 69, of Nowata, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ed was born February28, 1952 at Caney, Kansas to Edward “Bud” Hawn and Betty (Adams) Hawn. He grew up around the Caney & Sedan, Kansas area and later attended Copan Schools in Copan, Oklahoma. Soon after high school, Ed began ranching and rodeoing and the proceeded to join the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army, Ed started truck driving; a talent he utilized while in the military. He drove for H&H Tank Truck and Rick’s Tank Truck Service. Ed married Connie Endicott on August 11, 1978, at Yale, Oklahoma and the couple moved to Nowata in 1978. While in Nowata, Ed worked for the Nowata Police Department, serving as Assistant Chief of Police and later as a deputy for the Nowata County Sheriff’s Department. The Hawns moved to Pawnee, Oklahoma in 1982, and Ed tried his hand at ranching while also working for the Pawnee Police Department. The Hawn family moved back to Nowata in the late 80s.
Ed loved dirt track racing and watching PBR and rodeo. He loved his family; enjoyed his friendships and was well liked and respected by his peers.
Ed is survived by his wife, Connie of the home; three sons, Chris Hawn of Nowata, Brandon Hawn and wife, Katie of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Garret Hawn and wife, Jess of Nowata; one brother, Rick Hawn and wife, Judy of Copan; two sisters, Lucretia Gudenkauf and husband, Brian of Verdigris, Oklahoma, and Carol Cummings of Tulsa; six grandchildren, Ryker, Landon, Logan, Maci Jo, Maddie and Reagan Hawn; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Ed was preceded by his parents, Bud and Betty Hawn.
Funeral service will be 2pm, Friday, February 18, 2022, at Benjamin Funeral Chapel, Nowata with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home in conjunction with Benjamin Funeral Service.
